If you have ever been around Christianity, church, seen a cheesy Christian movie, or browsed Pinterest, odds are you’ve heard the bible verse from Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.
Personally, I’ve not always been taught that this is true. As a missionary and as a Christian, I am often told I will not change the world. I will not end sex-trafficking, and I will not end poverty. Maybe I’ll be able to do some good as a missionary, but don’t expect anything major.
Well, they are right. I can not do any of those things. Key word: I. I may not be able to save the world, but God absolutely can and He will. God wants to end poverty. He wants to set the women and children free who have been trafficked once and for all. He wants to use ordinary people like us to do extraordinary things. Things that are impossible.
Think of something that you are interested in or passionate about that you think is impossible to fix. The HIV crisis in Africa? The growing sex slavery in Asia? Global warming? Political corruption? Child abuse? The ineffective school system in America? The list goes on. The truth of the matter is that God desires to put these things to rest; however, He needs workers. Luke 10:2 says “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” What I take from this is that there is so much potential and good in the world, but so few people willing to trust in God and take the leap of faith to make a difference.
Don’t ever underestimate God’s power, and don’t ever underestimate His power in you. With God, we can move mountains. Do you believe that? Matthew 17:20 proves this: He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.” Could you imagine if every Christian lived this out? I have no doubt that if this verse was held as true in the heart of every Christian, we would start seeing miraculous things happen every day.
It’s time for us to own the calling on our lives. It’s time for us to move mountains.
